Arora wedding is characterized by a large number of pre- and after-wedding rituals. They are very interesting and lively. All of them are held to provide young people with an easy life together. Arora wedding is considered a grandiose event, full of dance, fun and excitement.
Pre-wedding ceremonies
Roka ceremony
This is an engagement ceremony, which is held in the presence of two families in a wide circle. Family members exchange gifts, fresh and dried fruits, clothes, and other things.
Sagan
This ceremony is held at a place chosen by the groom’s family. The father of the bride puts tilak on the forehead of the groom. Various gifts are brought to the future son-in-law.
Chunni chadhai and Ring ceremony
These rituals are performed in the bride’s house. The mother of the groom proposes chunni or saree to the future bride. Rice and milk are served as a treat. After that, the bride and groom exchange rings.
Sangeet ceremony
This ritual is performed 2 or 3 days before the wedding. This is an entertaining part of the wedding with lots of games and dances.
Mehendi ceremony
The bride is applied mehendi on her arms and legs.
Haldi ceremony
The bride’s and the groom’s families apply a paste of chaldi and mustard oil on the face, arms and legs.
Sehrabandi
Father of the groom ties sehra on the forehead of the groom.
Milni
At this ceremony, the parents of the newlyweds introduce their relatives to each other.
Jaimala
During this ritual, the bride and groom exchange garlands.
